The Center for the Transformation of Chemistry (CTC) is at the forefront of inte­grating cutting-edge chemistry with real life appli­cations- Divided into five thematic areas – Automation and Standardi­zation, Data-driven Chemistry, Recycling, Rene­wable Feedstocks, and Societal-Environ­mental-Economic Metrics – the CTC seeks to play a critical role in the green trans­formation- In line with these ambitions, we are launching a research project aiming to create the auto­mated materials science lab-of-the-future- The project will seek to automate and digi­talize our materials science labo­ratory to accelerate inno­vation and support our ongoing program to replace plastics with fiber-based materials- To accomplish this goal, we are seeking a highly motivated

Engineer / Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/div)

to join the project which will be run jointly by the CTC and the Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces (MPIKG)- The project will be carried out at the MPIKG campus in Golm, Potsdam-


  • identify opportunities for digitalization and automation in materials science
  • design and implement the automated lab-of-the-future in collaboration with leading materials scientists
  • evaluate and implement a supporting digital infrastructure for the lab-of-the-future

  • relevant education (eg- BSc / MSc / PhD) and qualifications
  • corresponding working experience of lab automation or data management
  • excellent communicative and collaborative skills

  • the chance to participate in the first scientific project of the CTC and work with leading experts at the Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces
