With funding from the Klaus Tschira Foundation, we are setting up a Biostructure Hub to support AI-based biomacromolecular structure prediction for which we are looking to expand our team as soon as possible with anAcademic Researcher (f/m/d) (TVL-E13)
Research Software Engineer with expertise in biomolecular modeling
Your tasks:
Development of scientific software for research projects in close consultation with researchers
Advising researchers at Heidelberg University on the development and use of research software, and interpretation of results
Development of scripts and optimized software installations for university compute resources
Conception and implementation of training courses and web-based materials on biomolecular modeling and structure prediction research software such as AlphaFold
Your profile:
Preferably a doctoral degree, but MSc are also encouraged to apply. A masters degree is a prerequisite for this position
Expert domain knowledge in biomacromolecular modeling and structure prediction
Experience with research software development during university study and/or completion of Masters / PhD / further academic employment
Excellent knowledge of Python
Experience with high-performance computing
Knowledge of good software development practice: version control, documentation, CI/CD etc.
Independent, structured way of working
Ability to work to defined timelines
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work in teams and communicate progress
Very good knowledge of English
