Stellenbeschreibung

Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg's aim in offering the junior professorship with tenure track is to enable young academics with excellent prospects to become independent at an early stage of their career and to offer them long-term career prospects. The junior professorship with tenure track is aimed at academics in the early career phase. The Institute of Economics in the Faculty of Law and Economics at the Martin Luther University Halle- Wittenberg is seeking as soon as possible to appoint an outstanding individual to a Junior professorship (W1) with tenure track to W3 "Information Systems, in particular digital transformation of working environments" (m-f-d) We are looking for a person with an outstanding scientific doctorate in business informatics or relevant fields of business administration, computer science or engineering, who deals with the interaction of people and machines in a digitalized working environment in research and teaching. The focus of the professorship is on the design of hybrid, team-based forms of collaboration between humans, computers and (semi-)autonomous machines in human-centered information systems and/or cyber-physical systems. Following the design science research paradigm, methods and theories of business informatics, artificial intelligence and behavioral sciences will be applied. The research orientation of the junior professorship offers links within the faculty to the interdisciplinary research focus on business and IT governance in business informatics and business administration. It is desirable that the research is compatible with the university's profile lines, in particular “Transformation” and “Sustainability”, and that it is networked with socio-economic, technical and scientific institutions at the university and its surrounding research landscape. The willingness to cooperate in compatible subject areas with the aim of contributing to the research output and third-party funding of the Department of Economics is expected. Experience in independent scientific publishing must be demonstrated by internationally relevant publications. Experience in the acquisition of third-party funding is an advantage. In teaching, the future post holder should teach courses on business informatics and business administration in the German and English-language Bachelor's and Master's degree programs of the Department of Economics. Experience in teaching and the supervision of academic theses are expected. The willingness and ability to teach in German and English is required. In addition, a cooperative, team-oriented way of working and strong communication skills are desired and participation in academic self-administration as well as the willingness to take on leadership responsibility at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and to actively develop accordingly are required. Further duties and responsibilities are stipulated in section 34 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities. Applicants must fulfill the requirements of being appointed according to Section 40 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities. In particular, the prerequisites for employment are a completed university degree, pedagogical ability and a particular aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate. As a rule, the time period between the final doctoral degree examination and the application for this junior professorship should not exceed six years (family-related reductions in working hours are taken into account appropriately when assessing the academic age). Junior professorships are filled on the basis of a temporary civil service contract, initially for a period of three years. The position shall be renewed for a further three years conditional upon a positive midterm evaluation. Upon a positive tenure evaluation, and without a new vacancy announcement, there is a transition to a permanent W3 professorship. If the general legal requirements are met, this transition includes appointment through a lifelong civil servant relationship, or alternatively, a transfer to an indefinite private-law employment relationship. The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is committed to diversity and aims to create an inclusive environment where our staff and students feel valued and inspired.
