Postdoc (f/m/d) for the Investigation of Color Centers in Diamond Membranes Kennziffer: SE 2024/30 The Department for Spins in Energy Conversion and Quantum Information Science (SE-ASPIN) is dedicated to the investigation of structure-property relationships, in particular of systems featuring electron spins. Our spin-oriented perspective extends to materials and devices used in applications such as photovoltaics (PV), batteries, and quantum technology. The research group Quantum Information with Solid State Spins within SE-ASPIN is dedicated to the investigation of quantum materials for their application in the quantum technology. We want to strengthen our team for our activity within the project Diamond quantum materials (DiaQuam). The goal of DiaQuam is the development of diamond materials for their application in the quantum technology. This joint research project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), where a German company, one university and two research institutes work together. We are looking for you as a postdoc at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB). Your Tasks * Characterization of the physical properties of colour centres in diamond * Nano-scale NMR and EPR experiments * Supervision of PhD, Master and Bachelor thesis presentation and publication of results at international conferences / workshops and in peer-reviewed journals. * Implementation of various experiments for cooperation partners * Supervision of doctoral students, Master's and Bachelor's thesis * Support with laboratory administration * Setting up new experiments * Familiarization with the research question and the intended research method * Support in analysing the raw data and interpreting the measurement data obtained, as well as in the design and implementation of research projects * Support in the preparation of publications and presentations (common thread, selection and presentation of results, discussion, conclusions) * Preparation and management of technical documentation * Preparation of comprehensive reports and presentations for various target groups for the transparent presentation of results and positions * Further development of the theoretical foundations * Exploration and (further) development of methods and procedures * Review of existing models and theories Your Profile * We are looking for a highly motivated and curious scientist (f/m/d) with a PhD in physics, physical chemistry, chemistry or related fields * Knowledge in optical and/or magnetic resonance spectroscopy is required * Experience with low temperature experiments is advantageous * Independent communication and cooperation with the project partners, including the organization of the exchange of samples and measurement campaigns * Self-motivated, detail and goal orientated work style with the ability to solve scientific and practical challenges independently, coupled with team spirit in a multidisciplinary environment * Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English * Additional German language skills are an advantage.
