Scientist for data processing and scientific visualization of geoscientific data for Digital Twins (f/m/x) The job The Department of Environmental Informatics is looking for a scientist specialising in data processing and scientific visualization of geoscientific data for Digital Twins Your tasks Data processing and scientific visualization of geoscientific data dealing with geothermal research or energy storageBuilding 3d and 4d browser-based visualization studies and digital twins of research sites using VTKResearch and evaluation of suitable visualization methods as well as UI/UX designCommunication of research results to scientists, stakeholders or the public (this includes scientific articles and reports, but also evaluation studies, videos or interactive prototypes) We offer The freedom to master even the most demanding challenges between basic research and practical applicationThe chance to work in interdisciplinary, international teams and benefit from a variety of perspectivesFirstclass integration into national and international research networks to work together on global challengesExcellent research infrastructure and research data management to optimally support your workFlexible working hours and a wide range of options for balancing work and care responsibilities through our family officeCompetent support and advice for international colleagues arriving at the UFZ from the 'International Office'Special annual payment, capital-forming benefits and subsidised Germany Job TicketA workplace in a vibrant region with a high life quality and social and cultural diversity Your profile University degree (Master) in a project-related field (computer science or engineering sciences)Experience with scientific 3 d/4 d visualizationSolid experience with Python, knowledge of libraries such as trame, PyVista, geopandas, GemGIS, or GemPy will be helpfulExperience with VTK or ParaView and extending ParaView using Python scriptsExperience with database interfaces, geo-databases and web services will be helpfulBeing able to follow conversations in GermanIf you have experience with any of the following we’d like to hear about it, but all of these are very much secondary and not required for you to apply: Geographic Information Systems (e. g. ArcGis, QGIS, etc.) or the structure of geoscientific file formatsVuetify as UI components frameworkHaving experience with Unity and C# would be very welcome as we are also developing geographic environments using this technology.Software to create geological models (e. g. GOCAD, Leapfrog, GMS, etc.),Meshing software, ideally open-source software (e. g.
