The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is looking to appoint an outstanding individual to aTenured Professorship in »Systematic Theology/Ethics«(W 3 salary)within the Faculty of Theology, Institute for Systematic Theology, Practical Theology and Religious Studies. The position will commence preferably by October 1, 2025.The Faculty of Theology at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is an institution rich in tradition with global connections and a profile relevant to the present day. It endeavours to develop theology in the sense of context-sensitive and ecumenically open research and teaching. It is looking for a person who will contribute to this with creativity and a willingness to innovate and who will actively participate in the faculty's research networks and the university's profile line »Sustainability«. The aim is to raise the profile of the advertised professorship in interdisciplinary, intercultural and interreligious exchange.The post holder is to represent the subject of Systematic Theology in cooperation with the Chair of Systematic Theology/Dogmatics in teaching and research with a focus on the field of ethics in its breadth (ethics of principle and material ethics fields).The precondition is a habilitation or comparable achievement in the subject of systematic theology with a focus on ethics.The person to be appointed is expected to continue to network the focus on ethics within the framework of systematic theology in an interdisciplinary, intercultural and interreligious manner and to bring it into the academic and public dialogue. In addition, participation in the Master's programme Medicine -- Ethics -- Law and in relevant ethics committees is expected. Additional cooperation within the university is desirable, e.g. in the interdisciplinary research focus Enlightenment -- Religion -- Knowledge.The tasks also include the further development of English-language programmes at the faculty in research and teaching. The ability to teach in German is required or must be demonstrated after two years and it is to be taught in German.Further duties and responsibilities are stipulated in section 34 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities.Applicants need to fulfill the pre-conditions of appointment as stipulated in section 35 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities. Particular emphasis is placed on a Habilitation in the relevant field, or an equivalent level of scientific achievement and recognition.
